Enjoy the following samples of my work!

Non-Profit

River Blindness – Onchocerciasis

Client: The Carter Center
Role: Edit, Color, Sound

This was a mini-doc for a board meeting at the Carter Center, and the second video shown to a board member meeting. It was projected in HD, and had a wonderful response from the board members and Former President Jimmy Carter himself. The full piece deals with the disease known as River Blindness, and how the eradication program in Uganda is different than the rest of Africa.

The full piece may be viewed here: The Crab and the Fly

Unicef: Guinea Worm Disease

Client: UNICEF
Role: Edit, Color, Sound

This piece by Cielo Productions focused on the eradication programs in Africa by the Carter Center, and was aimed for free distribution online by Unicef. This was a news piece, so it is very straightforward.

Carter Center: Africa Health Tour

Client: Cielo Productions
Role: Color, Sound

This piece was an overview of former President Jimmy Carter’s trip to Africa to oversee the disease eradication and health prevention programs in Africa. This video encompassed four countries, each with specific, crippling diseases. I got to do the color correction and sound mix for this piece. A fair bit of the footage from Africa came back orange because of the harsh sunlight, so we had to correct most all the footage.

Corporate

Environmental Leadership Program – Nissan and World Wildlife Fund

Client: Nissan / WWF
Role: Concept, Edit, Color, Sound

The Environmental Leadership Program was established by WWF and Nissan to take students interested in involving themselves in matters of the environment (in whatever field they may be), and taking them to different countries to experience and participate in environmental issues first-hand. I was handed a bunch of tapes, and told to do something with it. The clients were extremely pleased with the result.

The full video can be seen here: Nissan-WWF ELP on YouTube.

Redrocks – Redbox Corporate Event

Client: Redbox, Inc.
Role: Motion GFX

Redbox needed some graphics for some inter-department videos at their Redrocks event in Las Vegas. 3 spots focused on numbers and locations in the USA, and the 4th was a longer piece showing Redboxs (they call them avatars) in various locations around the USA.

Climate Camp

Client: Allianz Foundation and World Wildlife Fund
Role: Edit, Color, Motion GFX, Sound

This piece centered around a group of students picked by WWF and the Allianz Foundation, mostly from areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. They were taught about how climate change affects weather systems throughout the world. They then travel to Washington DC to lobby change in Congress. I worked on this piece for awhile, then decided to add in a motion graphics open to spice up the beginning a bit. The student interviews were all done facing the camera, so I ended up treating it like a student-cam look.

The Jacoby Energy Overview

Client: Jacoby Energy Development Inc.
Role: Edit, Color, Sound, (some) Motion GFX

This corporate piece focused on an overview of the Atlanta based group, Jacoby Energy. This section of the piece concentrates on Geoconserve, a division that helps cities lower their bottom line by using more energy saving methods. The edit for this piece was mainly a collection of stock footage combined with interviews and graphic segments, so I mainly concentrated on filling holes from graphic segments we did not have. I helped out in a minor way with the motion GFX by creating the end title to match the rest of the motion GFX. My wife loves the tagline of this piece!

Broadcast & Internet based News

Assignment Earth: The Series

Client: Environment News Trust
Role: Edit, Color, Motion GFX, Graphic Design, DVD/Bluray Authoring

Assignment Earth: The Series is a half-hour PBS series. Originally the shows aired on AJI, and they had to be lengthened and brought to PBS spec. So my work on the shows mainly consisted of adding segments (like the one in this piece from Mexican Air). Also I cut the show trailer (first video segment), and did a lot of background work on graphic design of discs and covers, as well as the DVD and Bluray authoring for the series. For the bluray, I used DoStudio, which is a great BD-J authoring system that has a lot of flexibility, and the DoStudio team is great to interface with as well!

Kenya HIV

Client: CNN International: Inside Africa
Role: Edit, Color, Sound

This piece by Cielo Productions focused on the Vestergaard Frandsen efforts to have more HIV awareness in Africa. By giving away free packages to promote wellness, as well as having famous African singers and comedians perform free of charge, they attract crowds to come to be tested for HIV. This aired on CNN International on Inside Africa as a piece for their AIDs Day program in Winter 2008.

This American Land (plus graphic segments)

Client: Environment News Trust
Role: Edit, Color, Motion GFX, Sound
Episodes: ~50 episodes delivered to PBS stations nationwide

The This American Land series was an interstitial series delivered to over 150 PBS stations nationwide. I edited around 50 of these episodes for Environment News Trust, and the subject matter was environmentally focused news pieces across the United States. After a few months we convinced the producers that the older graphic treatment needed some help, so I created a new package for the series that still continues on. You can see the older graphics treatment in the Cranes story, and the newer treatment in the Shasta and NPRA. I also included a couple of opens I created for the series. Enjoy.

Promotions, etc.

Expressions

Client: CCP and Genema Gallery, Atlanta
Role: Producer/Editor

This piece I produced for CCP and Genema Gallery was one in a series of four, spotlighting artists participating in an art event. The idea I wanted to get across was to get the essence of what each artist was about in their spotlight. Music here by Greg Hill.

On The Grill

Client: Adam Murphy
Role: Edit, Color

I was asked one afternoon to cut something together for a potential national series, so I cut this piece with Adam Murphy and Ludacris in his restaurant Straits in Atlanta. Sort of a restaurant review – cribs combination. It was a nice break from the norm, and I enjoyed it.
