Video Share – A new initiative.

November 26th, 2009

Video Share is a new initiative that I may call something else in the future… but here we go. For now there is just the one file (and maybe more in the next few days) but hopefully soon I’ll be releasing “packs” of stock video and interesting texture elements free for anyone to use anywhere. Commercial, personal, whatever. Just download and use. No set release dates, but I’ll update my facebook and twitter pages when I have an update (as well as here).

500 Days of Summer – Due to come out nation-wide in July

April 22nd, 2009

Okay, 500 Days of Summer is cute. Thats about all I have to say. It comes out in July, so you’ll be able to see it. It feels a lot (sort of) like a Stranger than Fiction type movie. Not that it has anything to do with the subject matter, but its got some funny animations and ridiculous moments. I kept on thinking that the animated moments would bother me and wouldn’t be well placed, but they didn’t. I laughed a good bit during the movie. So I give this one a must-see with your girlfriend/wife/whatever, as its a chick flick you shouldn’t mind watching. It comes nationally in July.

The Way We Get By – A commentary on elderly people

April 22nd, 2009

The Way We Get By is not a political documentary, although one would think it would turn into one with a group of elderly people, most with family in the military or vets themselves, greeting soldiers coming home. If you are a cryer, you’ll cry through this entire movie. It is a sad look at elderly people who are alone, and yet they have found this one thing that they can still yet do. So at 3am or at 9pm, or any other time a troop airplane comes through their town in Bangor, Ohio, they are there to meet the troops. I believe they said around 95% of all troops go through that airport as the first stop coming into America, and these people greet them, give them cookies, and provide phones for them to call their loved ones.

The story is a true documentary, it is very well shot, shows intimate portraits of all of the people, and in the end leaves you saddened, and wanting to go hug the nearest soldier standing by. Whatever side of the war you are on, you should still see The Way We Get By.

Looks like the trailer has President Clinton in the movie, which the movie did not. Some of these films get changed, and in the trailer it makes it look like they did a history of the greeters or whatever, but if that is so I’m glad they stuck to what they had, its great as-is.
